An autumn morning in kindergarten is an amazing place.
It's completely normal here when a Tomato dances with a Cabbage, a Strawberry recites a poem, and a Pumpkin forgets its lines and stares intently at the ceiling.
And all of this is called the Autumn Festival. 🍂
Vegetables, fruits, and berries remain among the most popular characters for children's autumn celebrations. And while everything is more or less clear with an Apple or a Strawberry, roles like Zucchini, Pea, or Beetroot sometimes make parents wonder: what, exactly, should a convincing Beetroot look like?

Straight from the garden to the stage 🥕🍅
🎃 Pumpkin
Let's start with the main autumn celebrity.
The Pumpkin is the luckiest: in September and October, it's appropriate practically everywhere. The Autumn Festival, a play, a photoshoot, Halloween — its season is busy.
For a children's party, a costume with a vest and a cap is especially convenient: the character is instantly recognizable, and the bulky construction doesn't bother the child.

Beetroot
Beetroot is a true hit of autumn celebrations. And, it seems, kindergartens love it much more than one might expect. 😄
The look is easily recognized by its rich burgundy color and green tops. For a child, the most comfortable option is a lightweight vest or cape of a characteristic shape and a cap: the costume looks bright, but doesn't hinder movement during the celebration.
And most importantly — if there is Borscht in the script, you can't do without Beetroot. 🇺🇦
🍅 Tomato
The Tomato has a different superpower — it's impossible not to notice it.
A bright red costume with green details looks great both on stage and in photographs. And if you wear a regular white turtleneck under the vest, the child will feel comfortable moving, dancing, and participating in the play.
And yes, a tomato is botanically a fruit. But try explaining that to a kindergarten morning performance script. In our case, it stays in the vegetable garden. 😄
🫑 Pepper
Pepper is a rewarding role for a children's party: bright, understandable, and doesn't require a complex look.
A red or green costume, a characteristic cap — and that's it, the Pepper is ready to take the stage.

🥒 Cucumber and Zucchini
This is where the higher mathematics of the autumn morning performance begins.
Both are green. Both are from the garden. And if there is both a Cucumber and a Zucchini in the group at the same time — the costumes must clearly show who is who.
That is why the shape of the vest and the headwear are especially important in such looks. They make the character recognizable even without extra props.
🥬 Cabbage
With Cabbage, the rule is simple: you can never have too many leaves.
It's the volume that makes this costume so amusing and recognizable. But for a young child, you should choose a model where they can easily raise their arms, sit on a chair, and not bump into the neighboring Carrot.

Carrot, Beetroot, Eggplant, Potato, Onion, Garlic, Pea, Bean, Corn…
Children's scriptwriters, it must be admitted, use the garden almost without any waste. 😄

Fruits and berries at autumn festivals are just as interesting. And there are especially many beautiful looks here for the youngest ones.
🍎 Apple
Red, green, or yellow — the Apple remains one of the most recognizable autumn characters.
And you don't necessarily have to turn the child into a giant ball for this look. 😄 A characteristically shaped vest, a green detail on the head, and solid-colored clothing underneath already convey the character wonderfully.
🍓 Strawberry
Strawberry is that case when the costume can be very simple yet effective.
Red color, green details, a small headband — and the look is ready. For younger children, this is also convenient: nothing heavy on the head and plenty of freedom for movement.
🍐 Pear
The Pear is encountered slightly less often than the Apple, but at a group celebration, it definitely won't get lost.
The yellow-green color and characteristic shape make it recognizable without complex accessories.
🍉 Watermelon
Yes, the watermelon season is already ending. But in kindergarten, the calendar operates by its own rules.
Green, red, black "seeds" — the Watermelon looks very bright on stage and turns out great in photographs.
🍇 Grapes
For Grapes, volume is the main thing.
Characteristic berries and a green leaf are enough so that no one has to explain the character anymore.
And next, Plum, Cherry, Raspberry, Blackberry, Lemon, Orange might appear — the imagination of autumn scripts doesn't end there.
Looking nice is good. But the child also has to dance in it
In a photograph, practically any costume can be adjusted and laid out nicely. At a celebration, everything happens differently.
The child sits on a chair. Stands up. Dances. Raises their arms. Runs the wrong way. Turns around. Sits down again. 😄
Therefore, for kindergarten, we advise looking first and foremost at the comfort of the costume.
The headwear shouldn't slip over the eyes. The vest shouldn't hinder movement. The pants shouldn't be too long. And it's better to choose the size based on the child's actual height, not just their age.
